Re: siratrol help?

First off, is the label still attached to the decoder/receiver enclosure? This label will tell you the frequency that it is tuned to receive and the tone frequencies for each activation or cancelation. The two-tone encoder makes things easier and more reliable, but is not required. The two-tone enco...

Re: What are the prices for these parts?

Is there a problem with the field and armature? If there is no problems with these parts it seems it would be far cheaper to just get brushes made for the old brush holders rather than replacing a motor frame, field and armature.

Re: News story on copper stolen from siren

Am I missing something here? He paid three guys each $40.00 to get wiring off of those sirens. That equals $120.00. He takes said wiring to a scrap yard and gets $40.00. $120.00 for payment of "employees" minus the $40.00 he received puts him $80.00 in the red. And this guy was the ex-Mayo...

Re: Chicago Midway Airport 1000

Nice to see this old Thunderbolt resurrected from the dead.

If you look at 0:05 and 0:21 you can see the projector horn is separating from the chopper cap. At 1:28 there is a missing/broken bolt that holds the horn to the chopper cap.

Re: How is the A & C-Series Thunderbolts vary?

Most of the siren head differences have been mentioned, so I'll touch on the blowers. A series blowers had the horizontal mount Sutorbilt 6M blower. The A2 series utilized the same blower frame but with a smaller horizontal mount Sutorbilt 5M blower. The only change to the frame was location of the ...

Re: EDIT...Found It Anybody have the picture

I am pretty sure that all if the sirens pictured are HOR Si-Rex sirens. Both the Super Si-Rex I had and the 7:10 port omnidirectional Si-Rex I have utilize end rings with the air intake hole that screw to the stator port segments. Also, on the 7:10 the top stator is bolted to the lower stator end ri...

Re: Omaha Research and Development 1975 tornado

I was born in Omaha, NE October 2, 1975. This was six months after this tornado occurred. I lived in the Wesgate neighborhood and went to Westgate Elementary School pictured in this video. There was a Thunderbolt at Westgate Elementary School when I went there in the 1980's. I wouldn't be surprised ...

Re: Thunderbolt Blower Questions

Thanks Jeb! Was the late A2 4M horizontal or vertical (I know the C series was vertical)? Also did Federal use a reducer from 3" to 2-1/2 NPT?

Thunderbolt Blower Questions

I have a few questions about the late model Thunderbolt A2 blowers. 1- What were the time frames that Federal used the size 5 and size 4 blowers? 2- Were all of the blowers medium pressure (xM) or did Federal also use the low and high pressure? 3- What were the inlet and outlet sizes of the size 4 b...

Re: B Series Thunderbolt in Grand Island

What is that tube coming out of the chopper housing for? It looks like it is either going down into the weather seal or into where the grease cup normally is. Normally there is just a 1/4" pipe plug there.
