Sirens and Watertowers

Wed Dec 21, 2011 10:26 pm

I honestly can't remember how many cities and villages I have passed through in North America, where you find an outdoor warning siren mounted under a water tower. Sadly, with the older water towers being replaced by new ones every year, this natural habitat for sirens is starting to disappear. So I thought for the fun of it, why not start a thread that shows photos of outdoor sirens mounted on water towers.

This now demolished water tower in Almont, Michigan, was home to a Whelen WS/WPS-2000-16:

I believe this is a W.S. Darley Model 5 located in Bancroft, Michigan?

A water tower in Milaca, MN has three Screamers on it. There should be another that is behind the reservoir.

Here's a Thunderbolt 1000 on the Mt. Airy water tower in Cincinnati. It is on the left.

Sterling M on Wakita, OK's water tower. I never recall seeing the siren in the movie Twister.

Wasn't Wakita, OK, the town that got destroyed in the movie "Twister?" They used the standard Model 2 sound effect for that scene.
