I was thinking that too. But the close spacing of the Modulator makes me think it was a replacement.

They sure do! Chadron has a system of four FS EOWS*1212s, all of which were upgraded with Federal UltraVoice controllers back in February of 2012. You'll find them at Boog Horse Park up on the north side, at the intersection of West 6th & Pine Streets, behind Chadron High School (southwest side of track), and at the water treatment facility on the south side of town.

I highly doubt it since the two that are still in place (that I know of anyway) have new MOD4016s standing near or next to them, though I don't know why those old 2750s are still there. I don't think there are any more old ones still hanging around other than those two, or at least I never found more while looking. Alliance has a total of seven Modulators for a system now, all of which are MOD4016 (old style, not Mod IIs) models installed within the last couple of years. In case anyone's wondering, here's where they're located:
* sites with old Whelen still standing
** sites that directly replaced an old Whelen on same pole
*** new install site

Some of those new install sites may have replaced an old siren somewhere else nearby, but the pole and all at those sites are brand new and none were already in place (that I could tell).

The first and only time I drove through Chadron in 2005, I seem to remember that they had Thunderbolts.

Replacing the Whelens with Mods seem like a waste of money to me when the UVs could be used on the Whelen heads. I'd upgrade the existing Whelen heads and relocate them elsewhere If I was their EMA.

How about some vintage siren photos?

I probably posted this one 5467546754 times, but it is my favorite nonetheless. It was taken in the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia in 1987 (I think). This photo shows one of DeKalb County's old thunderbolts. The siren was at Fire Station #12 (City of Atlanta), which is at DeKalb Avenue and Candler St. All that is left today is a bare pole out in front of the fire station.:

A Totally Random Model 5™ I stumbled across a while back at the fire station in Bohannon, VA. I wonder what the pulley setups are for.

Those are for hoisting up the fire hoses after use to let them dry and air out before stowing them away again.

@murrfarms I'm pretty sure that's the location. These were behind a jehovas witness building.
I did a quick hunt in Sturgis SD to see if the downtown thunderbolt was still up and indeed the 1003A was up and had been outfitted with a new ASC radio, along with their 2/3t22, unfortunately my pics were accidentally deleted. A SD-10 in Rapid City had a similar box mounted by its RCM. I'm assuming a lot of the older sirens in the pennington/meade county stretch along I-90 had that upgrade due to a large amount of New ASC T-something's that were installed in the area.
