Interesting that they used so many of those Model 5's/SiroDrones for a large metro area. Surprised they didn't have more T-Bolts.
I know, right? Whats interesting is the fact that the majority of the sirens marked on the old system map are older 2001s. I believe Indy had a batch of sirens installed in the early 1960's and then another batch installed sometime in the 1970's (they may have had some put in during the 1950's too) so I'm not entirely sure where all of the 2001s came from. I have 2 theories though:
1.) They replaced the system of HOR Super Sirexes that Indy had during WWII and the cold war
2.) They were simply installed for additional coverage

Not quite on topic, but I just found this Thunderbolt 1003 in Cloverdale (which isn't far from Indy) https://www.google.com/maps/@39.5127826 ... 312!8i6656

Around much of the Bay Area, and, in Los Angeles City, there were a LOT of Model 5's and SD-10's. Thunderbolts and other big sirens in the old days were not common. There were a few Big Joe's in Oakland, and, Los Angeles County. I heard justification for many small sirens, that if one siren fails, others would be close enough to hear, but, that's not always true.

I've not seen an Allertor around here. The nearest 2T22 is in Calistoga, like 80 miles away. ACA sirens were pretty rare, except for the Penetrators around the now closed Rancho Secco nuclear plant. There's like only one Thunderbeam in the Bay Area, in Foster City.

That's not terribly far from where I am. Might see if its active and go check it out. Also Spencer Harman needs to mark it on the Indiana Siren Map
