Worst-Condition STH-10 I've Seen

Tue Apr 28, 2009 5:00 am

This STH-10 is in the worst condition of any that I have ever seen. It goes along the lines of several Florida Model 2s where the housing has turned into a few strips of rusted metal. This siren is located south of Leeville, LA...better known as the Gulf of Mexico.

Ouch...guess the salty sea-water air took it's toll!

yow. at my last job, one of the things we did was salt fog testing (per ASTM B117.) 96 hours in a neutral salt fog would pretty much waste any unprotected ferrous materials.

Wow that's bad. :( You think they could at least take her down and let her rust in peace.

That's indeed the worst I've ever seen. Reminds me of old hulks of 1930s cars that you still see 1/2 buried in sand in the middle of the desert, where they broke down many decades ago.

Wow, I wonder how much longer that paper thin intake is going to hold that siren up in the air?

That baby has been through some hurricanes! Indeed the worse shape siren I've ever seen.
