Haven't given up yet!! Still have several towns to upload. Took a trip up TX 136 today with Kyle and Ben [kdksiren] to get some of the Hutchinson County OWS. Towns included in this system are Fritch, Borger, Electric City, and Stinnett. We ran out of daylight for Electric City and Stinnett, and I will have to grab those later. Later this week I should have Dalhart, [the rest] of Dumas, Hereford, Vega and Dimmitt up, as well as Big Spring.

Without further delay:

COUNTY OF HUTCHINSON
OUTDOOR WARNING SYSTEM
Operated by the City of Borger, TX

Notes: This is one of the spottiest and random systems I have seen around these parts. Some areas in towns are very well covered, while others are completely without siren coverage. Additionally, they have random open-county coverage in a few places. There is a Model 2 along the highway that literally warns nothing. I have a feeling that Borger may have had more sirens at one point, as there are some pretty inexplicable gaps in town. The NE side of town is pretty ghetto, and we found what looks like what used to be a siren. The boxes were there and some of them had been torn open [most likely for copper] and there were suspicious holes on the top of the pole that look like mounting brackets for a siren. All the street lights in the area were shot out. Borger also seems to have moved a few sirens around, as some are in different places than pictured on streetview. Some sirens are no longer there at all, or have been transplanted down the road.

Fritch, TX
Number of Sirens: 4ish
Types: FS5/7, STH10, XT22
Activating Authority: Borger/Hutchinson CO EMO
Testing: Unknown

Borger/Bunavista, TX
Number of Sirens: ~12 +1 Dead/Missing
Types: SD10, ABSHE, STH10, FS2
Activating Authority: Borger/Hutchinson CO EMO
Testing: Unknown
NOTE: It looks like Borger recently/is in the process of repainting or restoring some of its sirens. It looks like the majority of these sirens were once red, and then repainted yellow. This gives some sirens a pink tint. Newly repainted sirens are red or gray. It also looks like the system had a recent radio upgrade to some kind of directional antennae.

It is likely that there were, or are additional sirens in Borger.

Is that the same fritch, TX the famous tornado-in-a-trailerpark was filmed in?

Stinnett has a 10V, STH-10 and 2 I think. And yes, that's the infamous town of Fritch were that crazy guy thought he'd just stand in his storm door and record while a tornado destroyed his neighborhood.

That was some intense driving. Brakes finally cooled off. When you are ready for Hereford, let me know. I think I know that town and where all the Cyclones and SD-10's are. Ready for them to start testing again so I can get a better vid of the Cyclones. Hope you can do something with the map. Looking forward to the next trip. Still like the pink and red SD-10's. Wish the sun would have stayed up a bit longer. Kyle had a good time.

Ok...I don't really have the time right now to make a pretty report, so I am just going to dump this link to my Sirens Album. There may be some unrelated media in there, but it's mostly sirens. I welcome questions. I still have a few hundred pictures to dump in there...but yeah. Guest password is fssd10. Right around 1000 pictures...

Thanks for posting the link. I should do this with mine if I ever get around to putting them on photobucket.
