Sentry siren site revamped

Thu Feb 14, 2013 3:42 pm

It appears Sentry has finally updated their website. They do mention the battery backup 40V but no specs for it are listed.

They didn't fix the tones on the 40v... it's 600 hz and 900 hz, not 600 hz and 800 hz.

I like the new design, but I'm a bit confused by the specs...

7V8 - 112dB(C)
7V8-B - 118dB(C) [DC] / 121dB(C) [AC/DC]

Is there a design difference between the 7V8 and the 7V8-B that makes the "B" version louder, even when running solely on DC power?

16V1T-B - 125dB(C) [DC] / 129dB(C) [AC/DC]
20V1T / 20V2T - 125dB(C)

(Note: 20V1T is a single-tone version of the 20V2T and is mentioned in the description for the 20V2T)

How is a DC-powered siren with a 16HP motor able to match the sound output of an AC-powered siren with a 20HP motor, especially when the 20HP siren has larger horns (or so it appears from the photos on their site)?

Maybe if you read the footnote...

"Plus, this 130 dB is available in a 600/800 Hz arrangement, the lowest dual pitch arrangement in the industry; meaning its sound will fade at a lower rate than its competitors, giving the user more distance per decibel."

I did read it... that's where I got the 600 and 800 from. That's a 3/4 ratio and the 40v has a 2/3 ratio.

I think what he's trying to point out is that they could be offering a 3/4 ratio version now. [/i]

No, it's always said that on their site.

They've finally removed the Defender listing. When it got discontinued, it was still in the list, but if you clicked on it, you just got a blank page.

From what I've heard, the Defender was a custom order that they later decided to try out for a little while. :?:

I don't understand the claim to have the lowest-pitched dual tone in the industry. If the Cyclone is still in production, 8/12 is lower than 10/15. Most other models from foreign manufacturers are 10/12. I have said for years that Sentry should make an 8/10 model with their existing rotors.
