Actually I believe it's a Darley Model 3. GCS sirens have a flat top.

That 2T22 looks pretty comical. How long has it been like that?
Actually, I belive you have it swapped around. Darley sirens have flat tops, the GCS sirens have weird tops like this one.

Really? That's not what I've been told in the past. People always mix the two companies up though, so who knows.

I snapped this picture(direct upload from phone, need to get used to rotating pictures) of a 1003 and it's buddy in Crawford Nebraska today. There's another similar sterling a block south of this installation on top of a building under a cupola!!! I'm also positive on seeing a mod in Alliance Nebraska but I need to figure out how to get to it for confirmation/pics.

Took a quick detour through Alliance Nebraska and sure enough my suspicions were correct about seeing a mod. Stopped on side of road to get a pic, couldn't get closer do to these two being in the middle of a field. On a side note, does anyone know if Chadron Nebraska has any siren(s)?

I wonder if the Whelen is still used...

I was thinking that too. But the close spacing of the Modulator makes me think it was a replacement.

They sure do! Chadron has a system of four FS EOWS*1212s, all of which were upgraded with Federal UltraVoice controllers back in February of 2012. You'll find them at Boog Horse Park up on the north side, at the intersection of West 6th & Pine Streets, behind Chadron High School (southwest side of track), and at the water treatment facility on the south side of town.

I highly doubt it since the two that are still in place (that I know of anyway) have new MOD4016s standing near or next to them, though I don't know why those old 2750s are still there. I don't think there are any more old ones still hanging around other than those two, or at least I never found more while looking. Alliance has a total of seven Modulators for a system now, all of which are MOD4016 (old style, not Mod IIs) models installed within the last couple of years. In case anyone's wondering, here's where they're located:
* sites with old Whelen still standing
** sites that directly replaced an old Whelen on same pole
*** new install site

Some of those new install sites may have replaced an old siren somewhere else nearby, but the pole and all at those sites are brand new and none were already in place (that I could tell).

The first and only time I drove through Chadron in 2005, I seem to remember that they had Thunderbolts.

Replacing the Whelens with Mods seem like a waste of money to me when the UVs could be used on the Whelen heads. I'd upgrade the existing Whelen heads and relocate them elsewhere If I was their EMA.
