What do all the coils and whirly giggers do???

The coils/relays just activate a switch automatically (instead of me having to do it by hand). For an explanation of what each one does, read the circuit description underneath the diagram.


As another note, I think I'm gonna put in a small, separate relay for to rotator motor, hopefully, I can find a reversible relay that I'm looking for.

EDIT: I found a reversible relay with off time for what I was looking for. ironically, Precision Timer has them (the same company that I was going to buy my solenoid flasher from, but I found a small programmable timer on ebay instead). Unfortunately, those timers cost like $70 so i would like to find a cheaper one somewhere else, and the timers are on a set interval, I need something activated by an external trigger.

Alright, I've done some more research into this. You cant have a instant reverse, capacitor start motor (they do make them, but they have 2 start windings which essentially makes them 3 phase motors). So, I'm either going to go the DC route, or buy a 3-phase rotator motor and add some caps to make it run and reverse on single phase (3-phase motors are easily instant reversible by switching the 1st and 3rd leg). Anyone interested in a single phase t-bolt rotator motor?

Uugghh, this stupid rotator is turning out to me more than I bargained for. Either make a brush ring/plate or design an oscillating system....decisions decisions!


Also, the horn will have to cope with wind resistance. (so the wind wont blow the horn more than 360 and snap the wires) I plan to counter this by drilling a hole in the motor mounding plate and inserting a nice big bolt up though it. A robust L bracket attached by several heavy duty hose clamps to the copper tube will serve as a catcher arm.

This is becoming so ridiculous it makes me laugh.....But I am gonna do it one way or another

I'm sure a local machine shop could easily make one for you, if you can't

Sure! Give me nearly $500 to get one ordered. Thats what I was quoted.

What about a Garage Door opener motor? They switch direction. They may be a bit harsh on the horn since they stop so dramaticly.

Also since they have the reverser hooked up so that the motro reverses when some resistance is applied to the door, it should be easy to make the horn change direction. Just fabricate some sort of stopper at the 360 mark and adjust the sensitivity of the garage door opener's safety circuit.
