I was bored with the Whelen warning tone sounds you can download and decided to make a "dual tone WPS series sound". Last part kind of sounds like a Modulator or a 612. Please remember, I am just messin around :lol: Don't expect a masterpiece.

Despite eerie sounding, that sounds more like a whole step interval, like the older style fire engine sirens with the 8/9 chopper.

I don't know if this is related or not, but I wonder what would it would sound like if you changed the male generic voice on whelens to a female. I have never heard a female prerecorded voice on a siren before.

It sounds like the programmers writing the software for the controller were crafty enough to use the Microsoft Speech API, which automatically defaults to Microsoft Sam up to Windows XP. Microsoft Sam is replaced by a female voice in Windows Vista (Ultimate at least).

Quite smart too, and it's hell easy to do.

Code: Select all

uses Comobj; procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); var voice: OLEVariant; begin voice := CreateOLEObject('SAPI.SpVoice'); voice.Speak('This is a tornado warning.', 0); end;
Done it a couple times myself, quite fun to play with. :)

that's not exactly what I meant. I want to hear what the genaric voice that comes with all whelen sirens would sound like with a female effect setting, also maybe a chipmunk type effect.

Here's my quick and dirty shot at a Whelen chipmunk situation.
