Cool mix of sirens at Eldorado,KS

Tue Jun 03, 2008 5:00 am

Was rolling through Eldorado,KS earlier today on the train at work rather slowly and noticed some mix of sirens. The emporia sub comes through augusta then up smack dab right through the middle of the oil refinery and then onto the outskirts of eldorado by the golf course. We sit up rather high over the town so I can see quite a ways. I spotted a rather brand new looking FS modulator inside the the refinery. Also saw a SD-10 and a 2001 within a 1/2 mile of eachother. Saw a bolt and a xT. I was kinda excited to see my 1st modulator in person. A little more NE outside of eldorado they have a 2001 sitting out in the middle of no where that appears to have perfect coverage to warn boaters on Eldorado lake. At first seeing it it's rather odd seeing that 2001 out in the middle of NO WHERE. I couldnt get pics as I was driving a 12,000 ton train. Anyone have some pics of the sirens I mentioned especially that modulator?

I wonder if that SD-10 is still in use. That makes the first Mod i know of in Kansas. The only one I have seen in person is a 2-cell one in Bartlesville, OK.

Bartlesville has three 2-cell Modulators; I heard that one of them replaced a XT22 at the Police Department.

I was in Bartlesville a couple of years ago and I didn't see any of their sirens.

We always go thru on US-75, and before they started replacing all of their sirens you could see numerous SD-10s, a few Tbolts, but last time I went thru all I seen was a 2001, the Mod and 1 SD-10. You can see a couple of 2t22s and a Model 5 in Dewey from US-75
