Didn't Windsor, CO get HIT by a tornado on May 22, 2008? Such a stance from an official makes no sense at all.

Providing a siren system

Wed Aug 13, 2008 2:28 am

Since the attacks on September 11, 2001, the Federal Government has allocated BILLIONS of dollars for homeland security. This money has been funneled to states, counties and cities who spent it on homeland security needs to include warning sirens.

This community should apply for and most likely recieve funding for a warning system. Even if homeland security money only matched part of the cost of installing a system, it would help fund it.

Our community looked at replacing our system and for a mere $7,000.00 we could replace our system using the current tower for the siren to be placed on.

If your community is in need of a replacement or new warning system, check out the homeland security funding.

Come on! Deemed unnecessary? How stupid. They just want more money for themselves. That will be regretful when someone dies and the siren could of saved them.

Every town should have some kind of warning system just in case, since severe weather can happen anywhere.

Heck, Newark has never been hit by a tornado but we still have a network of sirens for our protection. (Six of our sirens are left over the the Civil Defense era)
