McCook County Pics Added

Thu May 28, 2009 8:26 am

Well, yesterday was a long cloudy day so I thought perfect conditions for siren picture taking.
So I grabed my camera & a tripody, & hit McCook County.

The Entire system consists mostly of Whelen Vortexes, with the execption of Canistota.
But Enough said ONTO THE PICS.........yea. LOL

This is Bridewater which has an 3T22 & a Vortex

I'm guessing they attempted to Null the sound in certain directions cause you'll notice the Modifications they performed EDIT: it came that way, it sounds like there gonna move it to near the nursing home Source of Data: Derek <= TANKS

Heres an Analview of it

I couldn't (well I could have) take a picture of the controls cause there was noone around to ask permission & it would have looked bad if I would have been caught.

The 3T22 is at the old Fire Station.

Here is there new siren (NOTE: the entire county recieved a upgrade of Whelen Vortex R series except Canistota)

Wow! great pictures :D I found a Model 5 near Port Angeles, WA when I was there last year on vacation and I also got to see the siren in Walla Walla county WA but I never got a picture of that. Someone else took it, but here it is: http://www.jmarcoz.com/sirens/dixie_wa.jpg

It's a shame the town I'm in currently doesn't have a single siren =/ I'd be nice if we could get something.

Ouch, that little guy in Canistota looks like it has had the chopper ripped out with the intake bell!

Great pictures, as always!

Is there anything left in Spencer? It was a few years ago it got hit by an EF4 tornado. I thought they had an XT22 type siren, so that Whelen must be its replacement. Very nice pictures!

1st one, there are some rebuilt & new homes spread out through the town, but most of it is emty lots.
All they have for business is the fire station & a bank, & a post office.

2.) I dunno what type of siren spencer had before the tornado hit it, I don't think they ever did find it.

3.) and thank you :D
