Where to get decals?

Tue Nov 28, 2006 1:18 am

Hello community,

As you all know I'm in the process of restoring (repainting) my STH10B.

I would like to know where to get another decal that says "Federal Signal Corp." on it with the logo. And if possible the decals that have the warning labels about not putting fingers or other objects into siren openings and the high noise level decals.

Anyone have some or know where to get them?

my best guess would to call Federal Signal and tell them what you need them for they may seem puzzled but you may get some

Why would they be puzzled? Just tell them you
are restoring a siren and if the stickers are available I'm sure
you will be able to get them. The Federal parts lady has always been
happy to help me with all of my weird Thunderbolt questions.
I think the only Federal logo they have now is the FS like on
the 2001s. They sent me a couple of those when I ordered my
Thunderbolt manual from them. Surely they would have the
warning labels available as well.
Dad, what does that CD mean on that big yellow horn? Well son, I believe it stands for Cyclone Device......

I know of someone who restored an old Federal Model 5T, and we had some custom decals made for the siren and RC-5A motor starter. We selected Hall Signs, from Bloomington, Indiana. They had no problem with making reflective CD stickers. Likewise, they were able accurately reproduce the old Federal lightning bolt logo as well.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

Never seen a refelctive CD sticker before. That's a new one on me.

It looks just like my avatar and is made from ScotchLite reflective sheeting, which is the same type of material used on road signs for nightime visibility. They were quite common here in the late 1950s through the 1960s.

Do you have the pattern you gave them to make it by?
BTW-My science teacher's wife was on the development team for Scotchlite, and he invented blue painter's tape!

Just give them the artwork, be it a .jpeg, or .gif file and they can quote you a price. The higher quality the reflective material used, the higher the price. However, Engineer Grade 3M Scotchlite is what was mostly used in the past. This material has a life span of 7-10 years in an outdoor environment when exposed to UV sun rays, and the elements.

Contacted Federal and they sent out two STH10 stickers yesterday.

Now for a CD sticker for my Model 2. :P
