I never heard anything like that, but there are a few fire stations in the area that have sirens on top of them, but aren't in the county system.
I heard that the sirens in Clermont County were false alarmingly activated AGAIN today around 4:30pm. They think it was also a lightning strike(s).
Channels 9 and 12 are reporting that it was indeed due to lightning. Channel 12 says a tower at 32 and I-275 which has an antenna that sends the radio signals to the sirens got hit, and that the communications center also got hit, preventing them from being able to shut off the sirens. Supposedly, they're upgrading the equipment to prevent this from happening again.
On a lighter note, at least the local TV stations show good sirens. Channel 9 shows the Allertor behind the fire department near 4th and Main, and Channel 12 shows two - the Model 5 at the complex in Pierce Township and the TBolt on Clough Pike Elementary.
