Best Sounding 2001-130 Ever (UPDATE!)

Sun Sep 11, 2011 1:49 am

I'm having trouble pinning this one down.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LIXvkNbZnA

At first I'm thinking fake without a doubt. The trouble is I can't find any recordings of a siren sound that matches this one exactly.

Then I think well maybe it has dead batteries. The trouble there is that it isn't dropping in pitch any and the rotation seems fine. In fact, you can hear it jumping around a little bit like most 2001-130s do.

When it gets to the wind down, it actually has that nasally sound like an Eclipse8. So now either I just really want it to be a true low-pitched 8 port 2001-130 or it is indeed just that.

Is this even possible or am I just that gullible. I'll wear that badge if that's the case.

If I was blindfolded and had to guess what kind(probably without hearing wind-up), I would've guessed a T-128.

Notice the description says "This year, they installed a new Federal electronic siren at the Hilltop Drive In location."

Really nice tone! It seems to be pretty loud, since the mic is being overloaded when it faces the camera.

That's an Eclipse 8 rotor without a doubt.

Perhaps they're finally taking a hint from ASC...?

It would be nice if a spokesperson from FS would spill the beans. People would take notice of an 8 port 2001 more so than the 12 port 2001, which sounds too much like a Q :)

That's pretty awesome, I must say. I never thought 2001's were all that bad, but this gives off a whole new respect for them. Maybe I should email that video to one of the guys at FS and see what they have to say. Very cool nonetheless. I wonder if they offer it as an option now.. "high tone or low tone".
