In your opinion, what is the scariest sounding siren?

I already know most people on here will answer with the Thunderbolt 1000t or 1003. In my opinion, the STL-10 running in attack mode is the scariest sounding siren. Just listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5O9MsGNUY4

It almost reminds me of Silent Hill. I also think the HOR Super Sirex is pretty disturbing because of its oddball 7/10 ratio, but the 7 port STL-10 just takes it for me.

A Thunderbolt 1000T/1003 on a high chopper setting.
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

A system of Thunderbolts from a distance.

I have to admit- Chicago's 2001 sound pretty scary all in attack.

Sterling M-5 or M-10.

I also think a HOR with a 7/10 port ratio sounds really scary.

Much of the 'scariness' is subjective; the ambience of a specific recording also plays a large part.

I consider this recording of a Sentry 3V8 to be a good example; the echo and the general ambience contribute greatly to the 'feel' of the recording.

Having said that, guitarguy's synth of a 7/10 port Thunderbolt is rather disquieting in itself.

You are definitely right about that. That's why I put up an ambient clip of the STL-10 in my original post. That one is just plain creepy, even if that town just uses them for fire calls now.

I agree, and the images that you associate with a particular sound play a large part as well. For me there are none scarier (in sound or image) than the minor third sirens sounding over England in WWII.
