Really Good Tornado video with Siren

Fri Feb 09, 2007 10:53 pm

I dont think that this one has been shown. The 2001 in this video sounds really good (for a 2001).

The siren in that video might be an STH-10, based on my assumptions.

No i dont think so, that is a rotating siren if you listen closley. It has that very coarse motorized sound that the 2001 makes

This sounds like an STH-10 to me based on the fact that it sounds omni directional and not rotating its more than likely an STH-10.

Sounds like an STH-10 to me. Sound is too "clean" to be a 2001.

STH-10.

It doesn't have the 'rotational drop out'.

I don't know who was louder, the siren or that dude in the car! It doesn't sound like its rotating, but it could be any 12 port siren, a Model 5, STH-10, Darley, etc.

That's an interesting video. After watching it I too believe the siren is an STH-10, mainly based on the tone, which is noticeably lower than the 2001s I've heard. Those tend to have a higher pitch despite being 12-port sirens (like the STH-10) because of the DC motor, plus the rotor of the STH-10 is larger than that of a 2001.

Sound properties based on rotation are somewhat difficult to judge in this video because the storm chasers never remain in one place for very long. In several scenes it seems that they're rather close to the siren.

Ive seen many Attica Tornado Videos and they all sound like a 2001 not rotating so i my guess would be a STH-10. And my god those people act like kansas dosn't get tornadoes....gezz
