Atlanta, GA Thunderbolt 1003

Sat Sep 01, 2012 3:49 pm

I had some time to kill before the Braves Vs. Phillies game at Turner Field yesterday, and since I was across I-85 from the Courts building Thunderbolt, I took a quick video of it.

Not the best video ever (no offense). And I think that someday I may be able to get close up shots of the siren. :)

I know the video is horrid. I had a minute to take a quick video. I'm actually considering asking Fulton County if I can obtain this one.

Here is a photo I took of it back in June.

and Here is a cropped in version of the same image.

TboltFan..... Explain to me how on earth, you would be able to afford to have it removed.

I'm not so sure if that 1003 is going anywhere. First of all, it's both county and Federal Property. And even if you could get it it would be a TON of work. And so I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but don't get your hopes up of obtaining this one, sorry. :(

Nope, according to wikipedia, the siren is decommissioned and no longer in service. :(

You should check with the city or county - wikipedia isnt always the most accurate source. ;)

I think it may have been activated a few years back. Ian M. posted 2 pictures in the Rooftop Mounted Sirens from the same angle of the Courts Building, but it shows the Thunderbolt pointing in different directions.
