Well, here's an interesting article a few months ago about one of our local places being placed on the Terrorist Target list:
I an interesting article from my local paper, the San Jose Mercury News. 12/9/05, lower right first page:
A few years ago, someone (Homeland Security?) was putting together the
National Asset Database. It seem this was a list of serious potential
targets. Included was Emerald Hills Golfland, an amusement area of 2
minature golf courses on 3 acres, and an arcade.
Local officials burst out laughing when they saw Golfland ranked #17
of 18 targets. One official removed Golfland from the list, but
Congresswoman Zoe Loftgren told the Mercury: "The last list I saw was
from May 2005, and Golfland was still on it, but with an incorrect
address (Great, terrorists can find the target in the phone book
before the feds do! -Mike). We had a (House Subcommittee on
Intelligence Information Sharing) hearing with department officials
before Thanksgiving, and I asked 'What's going on with the list?', and
they couldn't answer."
"I don't know if Golfland is on the list today or not. It's so
embarassing."
The Vice President of Golfland hopes no one was scared away from
Golfland by being on the list.
