FS Modulators doing "Code-3"

Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:16 pm

The Modulators in Little Silver, New Jersey are used to call volunteer fire fighters. But, they do not sound wail or westminster chime. They sound what I'd call "Code-3." It sounds like this:

BLEEP-BLEEP-BLEEP----------------BLEEP-BLEEP-BLEEP------------------BLEEP-BLEEP-BLEEP (repeated many times).

Does that sound come with Modulators or did they set it up that way? I'll give you the Modulator locations in Little Silver that I know of. The first one is at the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Co, 543 Prospect Avenue. The second is on White Rd near the Shrewsbury town line, a little over 100 feet east of the railroad tracks. How do they do Code-3?

The Modulator is actually playing off a Diaphone horn audio.

It sounded more electronic and synthesized than a diaphone. it sounded more like one note of the westminster chimes.

From what I can remember, the ones in Little SIlver do not have that "honk" sound to them.

Most like the second one, except it is not pulsed. It is three, three bleeps, three bleeps, three bleeps (repeated many times).

It's most likely locally done. You could have a UV (assuming that's what these Mods have) start belting out opera if you wanted - having it beep in a pattern is a trivial matter.
Don't wait. Take a siren photo today.

Proud owner of a frozen Model A, a Darley Champion "L", an Ademco 12V beehive, a few horns, a brass whistle and several old weather radios that sound like sirens. Those last three count, right?

Do you know what the nearest Mod to me in NOVA is? They are really common in NJ but I can't think of one near me. Do you think you could add the Little Silver Mods to your NJ map?
