Gents of Leicester 4hp Siren

Mon Mar 30, 2015 11:47 am

Hi,
I am a volunteer at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge England.

I am trying to find out all I can about a siren I have to re-furbish for our new display area.

I have included a photo. I am sure it is a Gents Tangent 4hp model but the label was removed last time it was painted (the wrong colour).

Any information or sound clips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Very awesome siren! This is one of the older "Carter" style gents siren used in the Second World War. Here is a video with one running:

If it isn't locked up, I would strip the siren down, remove the paint, clean the bearing and have the motor checked. Grey was the factory color for the sirens. Hope this helps! Nice to see another person from England on here!

I've not seen him on for awhile, But Dan Wisbey is from the UK and did some restoration work on Gents Sirens. You may want to contact him.

I will try and find a photo of a Gents data plate.
