Gent of Leicester "The Strident" Siren

Hi All,

Would anyone be able to tell me anything about this siren? We found it in our garage and have tried to find out about it, but can only seem to find small bits of info, and it looks like the original Gents of Leicester is no more? It does look quite old, with the style of writing, but wouldn't like to hazard a guess at how old.

It definitely works (ouch!), but was wired up to the garage which had the old style plugs, it's now got a new plug attached.

Many thanks in advance!

Sam

Not really good at identifying foreign sirens, but it looks like it was probably not a weather or air raid siren, rather a burglar or fire siren of some sort.

EDIT:
Just did a quick search of "Gents Model 1500 Siren", and other than a Playboy magazine coming up, I found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2mYbCC2CdY
It is indeed a fire alarm.

Our home alarm sirens! This, I believe, is a similar model to the Chloride Gent 1500 (still Gents' of Leicester). Perhaps a sealed outdoor version, or their idea of the Master Blaster made by Klaxon Signals...

Thank you! That's really helpful, we just didn't know what to do with it and had no knowledge of anything like this.

Do you know if people buy these? We have no use for it really, but would rather give it to a good home than flogging it at the car boot! But if it's only worth a car boot, then I know to sell it there :)

Thanks again!

Samantha

I am not sure exactly what a car boot is, but I can tell you I would be interested in purchasing this little guy... I have no clue on valuation for a foreign siren like this so I am open to what you would like to get from it. I will pay shipping of course, please let me know what you would like to get out of it!

They mean a park-up-and-sell event.

Hi, did you manage to sell your siren? I have 3 of these, they were usually used as fire alarm sirens. I'd like to get more to add to my collection of small sirens.

Hi, can anyone tell me the power consumption of this model? I would like to wire it up from a 12v /240v inverter and want to make sure I buy a big enough inverter. There is no lable on my siren. Thanks david
