On my drive up the coast a couple of weeks ago, I took a few iPhone shots of sirens along the way. I also recorded tests in San Francisco and Bandon which I'll post later.
Stinson Beach, California - Federal Eclipse. At the base of it is a restaurant called "The Siren."
Mendocino, California - STL-10 on fire station
Crescent City, California - STH-10 at harbor. There was originally a 2T22 here, and later an actual Hörmann E-57, which according to a city worker I talked to, was junked several years ago.
Crescent City, California - A non-rotating 9/12 Allertor on the roof of a city building.
Crescent City, California - An abandoned, hornless, single-toned Thunderbolt 1000 on the next roof over from the Allertor (center of photo).
Brookings, Oregon - Model 2 and fire horns at city hall.
Pistol River, Oregon - STL-10 at fire station with another one on the ground.
Gold Beach, Oregon - Model 3? (the southernmost of their three sirens).
Gold Beach, Oregon - 8-port Sentry something at the fire station.
Gold Beach, Oregon - Model 3 or 5 inside a square housing at the north end of town.
Ophir, Oregon - STL-10 at Moolack Beach
Bandon, Oregon - ATI "siren" over city hall, next to pole that once held a Model 5.
Millington, Oregon - Buell horns on fire station. This is just south of Coos Bay, where the diaphone and North Bend's Defender have both been removed. The diaphone may be concealed in the tower of the new fire station.
North Bend, Oregon - Fire alarm siren on old outbuilding behind high school. These were common in older Oregon schools.
Reedsport, Oregon - Modulator tsunami siren.
Reedsport, Oregon - Model 5 fire siren a block away from the Modulator (Reedsport has two Modulators and two Model 5's).
Gardiner, Oregon - Modulator and HOR "paint can" siren at fire station (the DSA at the mill across the street is gone, as is the mill).
Gardiner, Oregon - Closer view of HOR siren.
Florence, Oregon - Drawbridge siren. Most coastal drawbridges use Model A-type sirens for stopping traffic.
Florence, Oregon - STH-10 on hill over downtown area.
Yachats, Oregon - Model 5 on fire station. If you're wondering, it is pronounced "Yaw-hots."
Waldport, Oregon - Whelen something at fire station - the only siren remaining in Waldport.
