A rare German siren

This is one I've only seen in a German catalog from the 1930's. It is a dual-motor siren mounted horizontally for smaller applications. This video shows the low-tone side being tested. The shroud would mount on top of it like a Mars siren.

So the motors can run individually? That's crazy!!!

Yes. The reasoning behind this was that the low tone side was designated for Fire brigades, while the high tone was designated for Air raids and other forms of attack. This was the norm across most of Germany, so certain manufacturers thought it would be a good idea to include both tones in one siren. This idea took many different forms, and this little bugger is one of them.
