When and what days are sirens tested? 11 a.m., Noon, 6 p.m.?

Fri Jun 01, 2007 5:59 am

Denver tests their sirens at 11 a.m. the second Wednesday.
I suggest we test the 2t22 at the mobile home park on the first Saturday at Noon or the first Wednesday at 6 p.m.
At those times it is more likely people will be home to hear the siren.
At 11 a.m. or Noon weekdays, many or most mobile home park residents will be away at work and never hear the siren.

Bartlesville tests their sirens on the first Monday of each month at 1:15...way back when they were tested at noon...hell, the sirens were even sounded THREE times during a tornado warning!...what necessitates such changes?

the entire state of Illinois has mandatory tests (for those who have sirens) every First Tuesday of the Month, and 10:00 or 10:30 (community's choice)

Why 1:15?
It can't even be a Noon or lunchtime siren!
Also that is too late - there may be storms developing by then.

Illinois' tests apparently are earlier to avoid developing storms.

Cincinnati- 1st Wednesday of the month, supposed to be at noon but, more often than not, starts around 12:02 or 12:03.
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI
