Yes - as noted above, the 500-SH used the STH-10's motor core (fan, drum, motor). The only difference is it had an extra shaft stub on the other end to drive the rotation belt. The 500-SH shown in that video had its baffles and intake removed for maintenance access.

Far as I know what killed most of the 500 sirens was rotator failure, either from the gearbox placement (oil sitting on top of a seal) or that damn belt that required splitting the siren in half to replace. I really haven't heard of any motor failures on those, most of them seemed to be the victim of politics.

In regards to the versions of the 500 that used the Model 5 choppers, were there any single toned ones manufactured that utilized the 8 port version of that chopper? Awesome article.
