West Covina Thunderolt Beheaded

Mon Apr 04, 2016 3:33 am

I haven't posted for a while (more into streetlights now) but I passed through West Covina on the way to San Gabriel this weekend. I noticed the landmark Thunderbolt, which stood at the corner of E. Garvey Ave S and Lark Ellen Ave and is also visible from the 10 freeway, had it's head (rotator, chopper, and horn) removed recently; likely due to an ongoing construction/widening project on the nearby freeway. The pole with the blower are still there.

There are two other locations in West Covina I know of (one south of the 10 on Citrus St and another behind the park maintenance/public works on Sunset and Cameron.

Ok thanks. Do they have any other sirens besides these Thunderbolts?

North of the 10 freeway, there a SD-10 at a fire station but I can't remember exactly where. It's supposed to be near Sunset and Badillo

There are hundreds of sirens in Cali! I've seen about 25 thunderbolts alone throughout the state... One of them even belongs to a board member here.
Own and love a Thunderbolt 1000 and a Model 5.

I have many hobbies and interests. And I love them all.

Christian, Lima, Oscah, November, Golf.
