Thank you! On my last two trips to Australia I'd hunted for these to no avail. I believe they were made there in the 40's.

I just discovered an omnidirectional variant of this siren. It appears that this city has a system of them.

I had always been told these were 12/14 port dual tone and rotated at a more normal speed... guess not. Is this the same siren seen in that other picture of a siren on a tower? Also, the doppler effect makes it very creepy.
I have an unhealthy obsession with mini sirens.

That's hilarious that it sounds like it's almost saying "WE OUT" but it's actually saying "WE-OW, WE-OW"

It appears to be rotating off of a clutch attached to the motor shaft, which explains the speed and weird pitch warbling.
Down to a Thunderbolt chopper, still a few goofy flashlight-siren combos, and a Model L.
