Because of the cost to remove, restore and re-install the siren back up on the hotel the owner decided to wait and maybe do it at a later date.
If the siren was restored and put back up, would it be used?
I have an unhealthy obsession with mini sirens.

Getting a suitable helicopter to do all that... boy that's gonna cost a lot. Not only that but it would (as far as I know) be the only functioning Chrysler siren in the US. Crowdfunding?

He mentioned that the hotel owners were the people who wanted it restored and taken down, so they most likely would pay for most of it, and there are several Chryslers around the US in the hands of Collectors that work, unless you mean if they put it back up on the building.

I think he meant functioning as in being on the building it was installed on and being used on a set basis (?)

If it was refurbished and put back up, it most likely wouldn't be used on a set basis. You have to man a chrysler siren to run it. It isn't controlled like other sirens.

I know it needs to be manned. Also I put a question mark in brackets because I was unsure about the 'set basis' thing.

Yes that's what I meant. And funny thing: I seem to remember the 7 Portland Chryslers being unmanned... maybe it just wasn't zoomed in enough... (or the black and white color kinda blended the humans in...)

The sirens are only manned in an emergency, they would send people to set them off, at least, that's what I know. They use a bar and some controls that work like a Throttle and Clutch, getting it to speed and then activating the siren itself.

If I was to remove it, I would attempt to take the engine out of the housing and move the engine and the rest of the siren separately.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
