Vernon, California

Sun Apr 02, 2017 3:43 am

Hello There,

I have never posted on this board before but in the City of Vernon California right outside of Downtown Los Angeles at Three out of there 4 Fire Stations have sirens. Two of them have Federal Signal 2T22's and one has some siren I cant figure out. I figured I would share these on here since nobody has posted about them before. Also I know of at least two other sirens In Socal if anybody is interested. One is at the CIW womens jail in Chino they have an ACA Pentatrator (SoundOff I'm surprise you are not aware of this one hence the mens jail having 2001's) and a fire station out in Trabuco Canyon in Orange County with FS model 5 I believe.

Your unknown looks to be either a Sterling missing several components or some British siren.

Here's the penetrator mentioned in the thread. I'd hate to be in that guard tower when it goes off!

Indeed it does, I didn't think of it until you mentioned it. I am looking at a old B&M ad and it strongly resembles the mystery siren in street-view, even the intakes!

On the contrary...

Also, that mystery does look like a B&M, somewhat like the siren in this thread.

My friend, Edaan F, contacted the owner of B&M, and he confirmed it is indeed a B&M Model 20-AR-10. Here is a ad from Edaan: http://prnt.sc/esa301

All credit to Edaan and the owner of B&M.

Redington Shores, FL, used to have one of these. It was taken down in the late '90s.

The Vernon sirens I found by accident. I stumbled upon the one at Station 3 when looking at the rail lines in the area since i am one of those railfans so then I decided to Check the other stations to see If they had any. Knowing how the city of Vernon is "Exclusively Industrial" (City's Motto) and There is all kinds of manufacturing and meatpacking plants along with bussiness using chemicals that are highly lethal there's a slight chance the sirens may still be in service in case of an accident but I doubt it. I was really surprised that nobody knew about these so I decided to share them.

Has anyone contacted the city to see if they're still in use?

Outstanding find, great work. If one of the experts could confirm this, The B&M sirens were 12/14 port, correct?
