Two Successful Siren Tests in One Day (6/7/17)

Sun Jun 11, 2017 12:42 am

On Wednesday, me and Brendan W. took a trip to the SD-10 and Model 2 duo in Oxford, Georgia behind the Emory Post Office just off of SR-81 & Whatcoat St. We expected the sirens to run only the typical 15-30 seconds of alert, but for whatever reason, they did three minutes of alert instead. :D

These sirens are tested every Wednesday at noon sharp.

I also took another video from my iPhone 6s when I decided to get closer to the sirens. Keep in mind that I had NO hearing protection whatsoever. Sorry for the random cuts in this video

Afterwards we went to Decatur and caught the Whelen Vortex R4 at Westchester Elementary on Scott Blvd. The Whelens in Decatur typically sound at 5:00 PM, but this siren started roughly 90 seconds early. At the end you can hear another Vortex winding down. It is the Glenwood Elementary Vortex, which is roughly 2 miles away from Westchester.

On a side note, this was our (Brendan and I's) first successful siren tests in almost two years.

Enjoy! ;)
