Depending on the camera, you mightn't need a capture card. It doesn't matter what is labelled on the port (in this case DV IN/OUT), just as long as the letters DV are present.
Remember that there are two types of Firewire 'plug'.
If your computer doesn't have a Firewire port, you can purchase 4 port Firewire expansion cards for pocket wool these days (and the proper 4 pin to 6 pin Firewire cable), and only take about ten minutes to install.
Once that's done (assuming you have Windows XP or Windows Vista), fire up Windows Movie Maker and select "Capture Video". The wizard will guide you through the rest.
