Check this out!

Yes, that is a siren playing a MIDI file. Read more about it here:

That is the coolest thing I've ever seen! I think someone has you beat Eric!

BTW, someone else on that board built their own pneumatic siren http://www.hornwhistleboard.com/viewtop ... f=21&t=405

Siren Playing Music

Wed Dec 12, 2007 10:11 pm

It sounds like 80's synthpop to me.

That kinda reminds me of this!

Yes this is completely real. This Renault, (McLaren's V-10's were better) F1 V10 of 2005 is singing. It can rev up to 18,000RPM, and there is like zero rotating mass. They went around europe showing the car and setting the engine to sing, however, they can't rev it this high with spectators around, so they did this one in a dyno cell. The new V8 engines are heard at the end of the video.
Cool eh?

I've never heard an engine do that before! French cars are famous for being full of bells and whistles, but this is ridiculous. I love the Castilian accents -- I wish they spoke it in Mexico.

Update:

Here is a new recording he's made (albeit a poor choice of music!):

And yes, the rotor is speeding up and down that quick, this stuff is used on high performance robots and motion control.
