I bought a Denver Siren.

Wed Apr 19, 2023 9:07 pm

I think everyone knew this was coming sooner or later,

Unit came from Albertson, North Carolina, Serial Number 13851B

After speaking with a few members here who believed this unit to have been scrapped, I sent the Fire Department a private message to confirm. The fire chief responded and told me he believed we were correct, but would check around. Much to the Chief's surprise, it was still around. I waited around for a few weeks on an approval, and made my offer, which was accepted. I had originally intended to travel from Michigan to North Carolina to bring the siren back, however shipping it was only half the cost of the road trip. So arrangements were made and it was loaded on a truck, and arrived this morning. SN:13851B. I believe this would be a 1918 model. I am still not 100% sure where this siren originally came from, as Albertson, NC is not on any sales lists for that year.
Some repair will be necessary during restoration as one rotor is damaged at the shaft, however I have already sent photos and spoken with a machine shop, and the repair should be straight forward. After that I will have the rotors properly balanced to ensure the integrity of the unit. It will be placed on a custom built rolling cart for ease of movement.

Once restoration begins, I will begin a dedicated thread for anyone who wants to stay updated on progress.

Enjoy

Wow, this is very special. It's crazy how many of these super uncommon and previously unknown sirens are reaching collector hands recently!

If anything Luke, you should have been the rightful owner of a Denver a long, long time ago. Congratulations!

Agreed. Luke is the best-fit owner of this siren.

Hello, fellow siren enthusiasts. I am losing interest, but will be back on the board from time to time.

Wait, What is a Denver siren? It really reminds me of one of those 3 tone Gents but I don't know anything about it. I f I look online I can only find random images of sirens in Denver.

Have a read of this write-up by Luke, it is very helpful and concise. Honestly I had no idea this brand even existed before I read it.
