Re: Poorly Maintained Sirens??

There used to be both a Model 5 and a Model 2 at the former Downtown Oswego FD. The sirens were left there to rot until earlier this year. The Model 5 was so rusty that the bottom half of the housing fell off and it was taken down earlier this year. The Model 2 was taken down 4 days later.

The thing about this thread is that there's poorly maintained...like the 2001s posted above (oof!) and then there are decommissioned sirens. I don't feel like decommissioned and left to rot counts as poorly maintained.

Whats the difference? They start of as poorly maintained, then stop working, then rot in place. Poorly maintained is just the first step. And if you are referencing my picture, no it was never "decommissioned", it was just never fixed or replaced when it stopped working.

I agree. Plus, look at all the rust on the Model 5.

I don't think that's a custom housing, it looks like the bottom section came off and slid down the pole!

I'll go ahead and add this. Anything from Springfield, IL's old system

My thunderbolt mixmaster is made up of parts that were basically smashed to all hell and back and used as rain barrels back in Springfield after they were removed. As a result, I have a locked up blower, and the world's crustiest 5/6 port thunderbolt chopper.
