Johnson county (Olathe ks) siren system

Mon May 06, 2024 3:41 pm

Hello all, Olathe ks has all 2001s, those include 2001 SRNs and SRNBs and 130s. Originally Olathe ks had round back 2001 SRNs but those were replaced in 2016-2017 with 130s. So where A 130 sits is where a round back used to be. in fact Johnson county replaced almost all their old sirens with 130s, those that were replaced include (thunderbolts), (XT22s) and the affomentioned round back 2001s.

Here's a video of an SRNB in Olathe ks https://youtu.be/-QyVUbxOqc0?si=4a_qeEKomK8mUkba

That’s similar to what happened in Eden Prairie. In 2015 they took out all the ACA 125s, the PN-20s and even two or so PP-15s (complete waste of money)

They replaced very single siren with 2001-130s. And they added like 20+ around the city. There’s a spot where you can stand and see two 2001s in the same direction at a park and one at the bottom of a hill.
You will hear like 3 or 4 overlapping during tests. And a single modulator on top of a transit station. Good spot for it
I own 2 sirens. 16+ radios. 5 Cassette players. 4 CD players. 5 of the 16 Wings of Fire books (including Darkstalker)

It's kinda a stupid move because there was nothing wrong with the round backs and they only replaced those and not any of the SRNs.

I did not know that they had multiple of the PP-15s. I do know that their system was very weird, they had a random thunderbeam, and one of the allertors was supposedly installed in 2006. This is everything I have found over the years of their system
(dark red is allertors, maroon/purple is penetrators, light red is thunderbeams, hot pink is the PP-15, and orange is the PN-20
