Stainless steel model 5 & 7s?

Wed Jan 23, 2008 11:54 pm

Being the DeLorean freak that I am, I can't but help ask if there ever was a Stainless steel model 5 and 7. I almost swear seeing one before and it would make since for a town near the sea to have one. I know lion king has a rip off of one. Any one else remember this?

The town of Concord, Michigan has such a siren located by the fire station. I believe that it is a Model 5. I don't believe they use the siren for fire calls anymore, but its still used for Tornado Warnings. However, the last time I was in Concord, was over six years ago.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

Taizhou Lion King Signals Corp. http://www.lksos.com/ Look at the photos -- they have ripped off almost everybody, including the French!

Here's one in Lincoln City, Oregon. Credits to jmarcoz.com and Daniel Maxwell.

Not meaning to get off topic but...Yikes! Can't Federal Signal sue them for making such a perfect copy of the Model 2?

Federal did make a stainless model 5/7 siren

You can't sue anyone in China since the Chinese government does not recognize US authority nor will they cooperate with us.

Nope. The patents on basic siren technology expired many years ago and you can't sue someone for making a chicken-feeder enclosure, which Federal wasn't the only company to do; and that probably wasn't patentable in the first place.

I doubt the Chinese "ripped off" ideas.
They are likely original plans developed on their own.
If I were to design a siren, I'd do what was most efficient and cost effective - which would likely result in the designs we see.

Does anyone else make a single-tone siren which parks with the stator vanes blocking the ports closed?
Saves having a screen which also is an obstruction to sound output.
From whom did they rip off that elegant idea?
