Good news in East Farmingdale, NY

Sun Apr 06, 2008 1:47 am

There have been a number of posts and threads over the last few years which have been lamenting the replacement of the Thunderbolts across America with electronic sirens. Well, here on Long Island, in one mid-size district, the tables have been turned. The East Farmingdale Fire Department has put their Thunderbolts back in service.

It gave me goose bumps seeing these sirens standing tall and proud once again. LONG LIVE THE THUNDERBOLT!

That's pretty slick seeing the Company #2 siren on a new modern looking building! It makes it seem like they're still made.

What's the use of the blue strobe light on the company 1 picture?

So all the rumors are finally reality. Been waiting to hear more about these. Are they going to run for Structure Fires only?

Just an interesting side note in case none of you noticed, but that is a series B T-Bolt. The standpipe entering the rotator box is offset from the center.

The mighty thunderbolts roared to life today! The sounded awsome from a good distance. Will post a video later on.

Probably something along the lines of "NO PARKING PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY FOR EMERGENCY VEHICHLES."

What that has to do with sirens, I know not. Why Robert needs to know, that's anyone's guess.

I had considered PULL OVER FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES IMMEDIATELY" but it doesn't line up on the sign.
