Royal Oak Township Michigan Sirens

Wed Aug 13, 2008 10:40 pm

For awhile now I had been looking for their 1 siren.
I used MSN maps, and google earth to try to find it.
And Drove by the location and no luck.
While I was talking to a friend of mine, he said....

"The pole at the back of the building of the old FD is where the siren was.
It fell off the pole a long time ago and landed on the roof"

So with this info, I went back yesterday and to my surprise, it's still there......
Well kinda

Here's the pic's.

It either fell and landed upright or someone tried to take it for scrap, but soon found out how heavy it is, and decided to leave it.

when I turned around, on the next block was a 2001.
The pile of dirt next to pole may mean that it was installed not to long ago.

I am trying to find out the shift commander for the Oakland county sheriff that used to be in there, they recently moved up the street. Hopefully it's still county owned and I can try to get the siren from them?

Looks it might be a dual tone model looking at the ports, but due to the glare it's hard to see if it has a second row of ports.

You should try and get it, maybe the housing cushioned the fall enough so the siren itself was not destroyed. Try going to the city hall and ask them about it their. They can put you in touch with someone about it.

Well, that's going to be hard to do, since they don't have one anymore.
They don't have a Police or Fire Dept either. They may have a DPW, but doubtfull.

Am I halucinating or am I seeing a JD tractor sitting there with a loader that hasn't been stolen?

Getting that siren off the roof is a piece of cake and little damage will be done if some disassembly is done before making the pick.
