 Awesome pictures. That 550-AT is incredible. I wish there were more, but nope. I wish it was in better condition, but it does look very nice. Try to snag it when it does come down.

You guys are lucky to have such a rare and unusual siren. It almost looks like an SD-10 turned on its side.

Very cool siren, but do you have any idea what size motor this beast has in it?

Are their plans for a repaint in the future?

For being over 50 years old, that siren is in great condition. I want one!

I see they finally got some controls for it?
Also, why is there a lot of people gathering around it? Town Hall Meeting?

Actually.. There's a church beside the city hall - Sermon just let out, so in effect, a town meeting. As for controls, i suspect that the box contains motor starter(s) and relays. If there's an AR timer in there... I'd love to get my mitts on it and figure out why Calhan chose to go all-manual on their siren.

This is one siren model, I wish that Federal would have made more of. I love the sound of this siren, as it's a real attention getter. At least siren manufacturers like Federal, were willing to do a lot of experimentation back in the 1950s.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.
