What i meant was that the original yellow was painted over with some other color. Anyone wonder why this was done? I know that colors don't last forever so why not keep em yellow?maybe by the time they needed repainting,CD was not a top priority or maybe CD yellow wasn't available anymore...

HA! good to see someone found my Flickr page! (Those are mine lol)

That one is on Wilmot and Grant on the South-west quad. Its the only one I found so far that's still standing.

The hot Arizona sun is really not good for paint, plus the occasional sandstorms don't help either.

I recovered one of the old thunderbolts, pics below.

I also read on another site that Tuscon Az. was once surrounded by Nike missle or icbm bases

Most major US cities had Nike bases around them.

I heard a rumor there's still a few thunderbolts in the downtown area, for I while now I've been looking around for them.

If they're out there, they're probably on a rooftop.

If I ever find one, I'll make sure to take pictures

Speaking of Arizona, I have some sad news to report. The HOR Super Sirex located at Navajo Elementary School is gone for good, the tower and all. I even went to see if the old control box was still there and thats gone too all thats left is the faded outline of where the control box use to be. A new cement slab has been poured where the tower once stood. They did a good job though, removed the piping and everything. Too bad, it could of been put back into service with this whole North Korea conflict going on right this moment.

Do you know where they took it or what they did with it?

That's bad for Canada if North Korea decides to bomb North America, since all of Canada, save a few places, have sirens at all.
