I believe that's Whelen's chemical spill tone or something like that. They use that tone in Europe a lot.

I know I had my ear phones in my ears and I had to take them out for a sec it was so loud!!

Notice how this siren is swaying in the wind. From what i can see in the video it is mounted on a metal pole, which being that this thing is so top heavy it should be mounted on a concrete pole so it doesnt come crashing down one day!

Despite the voice being muffled at the end, I was actually not expecting that sound to come from that!

Probably one of whelen's better siren series if you ask me. :)

yeah you can (if you don't like the standard tones) order the Alternate tone set, what a creepy sound.

I noticed the pole swinging too...man!
Manhattan, Kansas has 5 Whelen 2810s that use the "Gas Proof Protection" signal to alert residents of a dam break. I need to get over there this summer and get a video!

Ya I noticed on SafetyComs website that these were all in the standard tones. I really like the Alert version of this tone which I think is called Audible Alert, or All Clear( I think). It sounds more dual tone and soooooo much better than that crap Whelen uses for standard alert or wail now. Also the WPS-4008's are still on their website. I wonder if they do still sell them.

The lower tone of this unit will carry further and penetrate structures much better than a unit of higher tone, even if the higher tone unit has a higher SPL rating at 100 feet. It's not the performance at 100 feet that counts, but the performance at a mile or more.
The most overlooked opportunities are in the learning of and improvement in old technologies.
