Ouch! Apparently someone didn't mount that siren very well. Fortunately the damage appears to be minor - replacing that bent air pipe (forgot specifically what that's called) should be fairly cheap. Let's just hope they mount it better this time.

Wow . :shock: Put it back up with a new blower pipe and it will probably work fine. I think it's called a stand pipe.

I don't know why it wouldn't, unless the power cable to the rotator and chopper got ripped out. I don't think it would last long, though, because when the head wouldn't rotate the collector ring would burn out before long. The rotator always starts first specifically to save the collector ring.

To prevent the contact brushes from arcing on the collector ring when the chopper starts. It's less likely to do so when they are moving on the collector rings vs. being stationary. That's what I took it that Jim was saying.
