Blown Down Thunderbolt

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet but it happended in Salina, which i believe is in Kansas. The Thunderbolt was blown down on August 10, 2009 during a thunderstorm.

Darn it! There is a Tornado Warning Video that took place in Salina, KS back in 1990 and it had two Thunderbolts sounding in the video. I sure hope this isn't one of em and if it is, I sure hope it doesn't get replaced.

Wow, it tore the horn loose from the chopper cap.

More than likely it bent the rotator tube also.

If i recall right, that was during a nice squall line of storms moving across Kansas. I will have to download the radar data around the time that they state on that image comment.

I don't know much about sirens, but I would say that thing is not going to be operating for a while...

That's pretty much guarenteed that when a T-Bolt is blown down and sustains that kind of damage that it'll be replaced by a brand new siren.

The same thing happened in 1998 in St. Louis County (Mo.), where an F1 tornado blew down an old T-Bolt 1000. It was replaced by a Whelen WPS-4003.

I'm impressed that it only took 10 days for the 2001 to be installed!

As much as I would rather see a T-128 standing next to that poor old TBolt, it's great to see that people in that area care about sirens. Getting a new one up less than two weeks after the previous one was destroyed is impressive.
