I recently found a mounted and running American Signal Corporation E-Class Siren. :D

Here are the pictures.

Nice Pictures, but I still say it looks like an ATI.

The ASC E Class and ATI look so alike

ATIs and ASC E Class sirens use the same speakers from a Taiwanese manufacturer (Kingstar?) but E Class sirens use ASCs far more reliable controllers and amps. The problem is, if the speakers are cheap junk (and I suspect they are judging from the sealing and driver issues ATI had with them, not to mention the E probably stands for "economy"), they'll be cheap junk regardless of who is selling them. So the question is, while ASC may avoid some of the activation and controller issues ATI has had, can they avoid the issues with the speakers?

I've heard that ASC just buys the speaker shells and then puts their own drivers inside them. I'm guessing ATI does the same.

There's two ASC E-Classes in New Baden, I don't know the model of them, but they have two sets of speakers.

If anyone is interested, here's the website for the speakers' manufacturer:

http://kingstar.myweb.hinet.net/

If you click "English," mouse over to the "Products" menu and click down to the "High Power Horn Speakers," you'll find our E-Class (and ATI) friend as the TU-300 model.

It looks like they at least come with the drivers per Kingstar's spec sheet. If ASC is dropping their own drivers in, I must give them all the credit and laudations possible. While you can't stop these horn assemblies from looking atrocious, to give them some chance of longevity is noble indeed.

I just hope its true.

American Signal uses the Atlas Sound AS100N driver in all their sirens. They speak highly of the drivers too.

Are Hormann's speakers made in Taiwan? This picture is from Hormann's website:

I feel sure I'd read that ATI's speakers came from Hormann, but of course I don't know where Hormann's came from.

I'm almost positive Hormann's speakers come from Kingstar in Taiwan. Here's proof:

(The image can be found originally on: http://hormannamerica.com/index.jsp?pageid=77)

That is an image of a Hormann's speaker with its back off. Note four Kingstar branded drivers hanging about in there.

I assume that photo was taken by Hormann because that photo exists nowhere else on the internet...including Kingstar's page.
