San Francisco ATI Siren Test

Wed Aug 04, 2010 10:11 pm

My first full day in San Francisco was on Tuesday (July 20th) and I wanted to find a ATI siren because I knew they went off at noon. I found this siren at Bay and Kearny, which is right near the water and the piers. I was heading to the Ferry Building but saw this one and it was close to 12:00 so I recorded this one.

*I will upload all the pictures of sirens I saw on my trip next week, most were down the coast of california for tsunamis and earthquakes*

All the San Fransisco ATI's do. The EMA director wanted them to sound familiar since most of that system was composed of STL-10's so he had them put a sound card in with an STL-10's recording.

Feel free to correct me if any of that is wrong.

Yes, the SanFran's ATI soundcards have an STL-10 recording on it. However, the lower frequency of the recording isn't too healthy for the sirens' compression drivers.

You can't see it on this one, but on most of the older ATIs in San Fransisco they installed them on the STL-10s old mount.
Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right.

I remember seeing mainly STL-10's before they were replaced, but there were also several STH-10's and Model 5's around the city.
