Brilliant, and sounds completely realistic! Do you have a decibel meter?

Amazing....I want one. Seriously. It sounds pretty darn loud. Can't hear the blower at all when the head's going. You should build a bunch of these to sell. There's plenty of T-Bolt die-hards like me who would snatch them up fast LOL

I have an idea on how to control the chopper speed better. You can build a motor controller based around a PIC microcontroller and control the motor speed using pulse-width modulation.

A: It's very loud for its size! I was impressed when I saw it in person.
B: He is definitely not making more of these!

That sucks. I'd like to have one so bad that it's stupid  Anyways, great job Eric! Can't wait to see it all done and painted up.

I don't have any problem with the chopper speed now.

I might eventually if I have some access to some machines where
I can actually work on the thing steadily instead of trying to work
in time on breaks and lunch at work.

kx250rider, there's another project of his I remember; a replica Thunderbolt he built for the Regan Library/Museum. I haven't been there myself yet but I know you live near it.
It's not a replica it's an empty Thunderbolt head with all the motors
and rotator drive removed.
Seems like all you'll need to do now is make a better blower cover, paint the blower cover and rotator box yellow, plus add a few decals.
The blower cover and finishing the rotator box is next. I finally got a new
battery for the thing and it runs like it should now.

It would be prohibitively expensive to do that. It would cost a
small fortune to build a small production run of the things. Then
to resell them I can't imagine how much they would cost a piece.

That's a great tip! I haven't been there yet either  . But we keep talking about it and now I have a burning urge to go check it out... I have no excuse for not going sooner because I'm a BIG Reagan fan and as you pointed out, I can see it from here! I can see in the windows of the big building with Airforce One in it with my telescope

I'll report on it ASAP.
