Sterling Little Giant Restoration

Tue Apr 15, 2014 12:52 am

Well after it's been sitting in my garage all Winter, I am finally getting around to finishing up the Little Giant. I brought the motor to the motor shop today to have them remove the choppers, install new bearings and reinsulate the windings. Once they get the choppers off they will call me and I will bring them, the back plates, stators, base, housing, and junction box cover to the painters. They will sandblast them and paint everything but the choppers fire-engine red.

Got the motor back from the shop the other day, had new bearings installed, case cleaned up, and the field re-insulated. After that I took it home and painted it with Dutch Boy weather-resistant paint and primer all-in-one paint. The other parts have been sandblasted and the dents removed from the horns with an English wheel, just waiting for the guy to finish painting them red (Except for the choppers). Should get it back in a day or 2.

Sorry for the bump, but it's finally done! The housing is currently removed but looks great as well.
