Federal Signal DSA test

Fri Jun 01, 2007 12:28 am

Hmm, testing started early. Oh well, official Civil Defense test day is tomorrow, and I'll be recording a Modulator.

Reception73 filmed this solar-powered DSA dated on 5/29/07.

The voice on that siren is one of the best i've heard, as far as clarity and no distortion.

I had an idea for an improved dsa once. Make the speakers rotate.
I can't hear you! *air raid siren sounding* Ok I can hear you now.

not quite sure what you are asking :?, but if you are talking about the ACA Hurricane siren, no. We only have Federal Signal Sirens here.

As for building a rotating mechanism into the DSA, sounded like a good idea there, but I'm sure with Federal Signal's expertise, it would have considered into the final design of the siren if it were feasible.

A rotating mechanism would also add an extra scheduled maintenance step. The DSA is currently a really low maintenance siren, asking only for periodic speaker tests.

well, the modulator I went to actually DID a silent test. No fun at all. The video I have does have the high-pitched thunderbolt and a regular sounding dual tone one as well. I will post it, if there is interest.

Watch this Google video. I'm the person pacing back and forth in the background at the 00:28 mark regarding the first video.

And later that afternoon it probably was another DSA.
